More new bits....

I was thinking about this for a while. I have shelled out quite a few bob to get the bike running again.

The jobs that needed to be done have been done and basically nearly everything under the level of the fuel tank and seat has been fixed and or replaced

This includes the complete engine and carbs. Wheels (inc spokes and rims)  and brakes. New tyres. Phil hasn't mentioned the chain although all through the "stored days" (for a better less emotive phrase like "left to rott") it was bathed in a Scottoiler bath of oil.  Much of which dripped off over time and stained the thick cardboard the bike was standing on.

I had newly rechromed clock backs to go on, plus I supplied all the cables and various brake rebuild kits.

But what stands out in the photos is the poor state of the air box covers. I looked on Robinson's Parts Finder to see what sort of dosh they would cost. WOW!

13760-31210 Right Side Cover £85.81
13770-31210 Left Side Cover £81.89

The gasket on the left side is shown as discontinued.

Parts 5-7!

Well, that was a bit too much.  Even if I could use the discount for being a member of the Kettle Club, it is a lot of cash.

I emailed Reiner Schneider (GTReiner) in Germany to get his latest parts/price list and was rewarded with prices of €49.58 and €60.50 respectively plus the left on comes with the gasket. Even with postage from Germany the total cost came out about £40 cheaper.

The only worry was that since UK left the EU that the overseas companies would start to take the piss with carriage and start to add various "duty" and "charges" to orders. It has been widely publicised in the newspapers that some EU companies are making people pay exorbitant amounts. We don't pay EU VAT on purchases!

In the end Reiner's package arrived today without any further add-ons from the post office at either end.

I had to get it open and look at the part.  VERY SHINY!!!!

Perfect mirror finish!
