A day later and here I am. Dog walked and I turned my attention to working out how much it would cost in fuel alone to ride across to Brno or Vernířovice for the rally next year.

It would probably be my last visit to Czech and most definitely by bike. As we get older their are "bucket lists" that need to be filled.
Either by Kettle or Rocket (unless I miraculously trade the RIII in for something smaller) the cost will be about the same in fuel. Plus hotel/gasthaus/B&B/YH stops to be included. Food has be eaten wherever you are. All that comes to £X.
So I had a fall-back to what I did in 1999 when I went to the Wasserbueffel Club Rally at Moosham and the trips around the Alps and Dolomites. I went to Cologne and got the motorail train in both directions! Then I worked out the costs against each other and there wasn't that much in it.
A quick google shows there is an option to go from Dusseldorf to Vienna. I haven't worked out the timetable and of course it's nor available for 2022 yet. The price based on travel in 2021 is £Y.

£Y- £X is about £50 curently. The problem is the dates that they will run the service and of course, whether Covid has buggered off.
