Last night I turned the idle speed up a little to make sure that when arriving at a junction that the engine would maybe bog down but not stall. Seems a little success to an idle speed of 2000rpm isn't healthy.
The short ride to Cheriton went off okay. I avoided the motorway and had to run the gauntlet of two schools where the traffic is usually horrendous. Kids around here don't seem to walk to school like I did! Despite a plethora of double-yellow lines (no parking at any time) the kerbs are chock full of cars. Today only about half chock!
I made it all the way without a single stall but the hairpin turn at the top od Sandgate Hill into Coolinge was a worry but the engine kept running.
I talked over the problem with the guys at Cheriton Motorcycles and it looks as though the problem is with the pilot jets and the carbs. They'll clean them out and fit an inline filter as well as check the tank out and clean and seal that if needs be. I expect the new fuel tap will be gunged up again.
So it's finger crossed.
